Welcome to Sherman, Texas

Sherman TX...

is currently the largest city in Grayson County.

Known for its historic landmarks, there is a strong determination to preserve the best of the past while stepping forcefully into the future.

One example of this commitment is the Downtown Sherman Preservation & Revitaliztion, a non-profit group dedicated to preserving, promoting and revitalizing downtown.  When the citizens of this small community have a vision - things get done!

Perhaps it is the community commitment of the residents that makes Sherman a special place.
Sure there is affordable housing, a strong economy, shopping, excellent medical facilities, and exemplary schools but what makes things happen are the people.

Home to Austin College and the county seat of Grayson County, Sherman is a vibrant hub of activity.

Sherman is recognized as the crossroad of North Texas - Hwy 82 traveling east-west and Hwy 75 traveling north-south - it is just a hour from major cities in Texas and Oklahoma.

Sherman Downtown Now

Envision a livable downtown neighborhood. Tree-lined sidewalks filled with places to eat, shop, socialize and experience.

This is our vision of Sherman Downtown Now!

Ours is a unique urban community located less than an hour north of the DFW metroplex. As Sherman’s city center and county seat of Grayson County, the neighborhood has a long and rich past, and we are now looking forward to a bright future as a sustainable mixed-use community. Our neighborhood already boasts a mix of retail shops, restaurants and cafés, arts and sports venues, professional services and opportunities for urban living. In addition, we are currently in the early stages of a full-scale development plan for the neighborhood. Whether you are a Sherman resident or are from out of town, a prospective business owner or developer, this site should offer you the resources you need. Sherman ISD
Top 6% for college readiness

Sherman High School has received the "2010 College Readiness Award" from the Texas ACT Council for significantly increasing ACT scores over the past five years, while continuing to increase the number of students taking the college entrance exam.

Dr. Al Hambrick, SISD Superintendent, commends students for their preparation and commitment to post secondary education and credits a "culture of college ready graduates" as the key to success.

"Staff, students and parents have developed a reputation of insuring that students are equipped for the next step.  Whether it be for college or the workforce, post secondary success is an expectation thta has become commonplace in Sherman Schools."

The most recent ACT accolade placing Sherman High School in the top 6 percent in Texas comes only weeks after the Texas Education Agency awarded SHS  a "Gold Performance Acknowledgment" for producing college-ready graduates and only a few months after Newsweek Magazine designated SHS in the top 4 percent of high schools in America for preparing college-caliber students.
Washington Post ranks SHS near top for commitment to college prep

For the 5th year in a row Sherman High School ranks as one of the top high

schools in America for their commitment to preparing students for college.

According to the Washington Post SHS placed in the top 4 percent in America and top 6 percent in Texas.
